Rob's 1964 Corvette Coupe

1964 Daytona Blue Coupe Original 327/375 fuel injected but long gone. Nice driver. 4 speed 4.10 gears Dark blue leather interior.

Dark blue leather interior, nice cockpit setting

My official tee shirt for owning and driving a 1964 Corvette. 1964 Corvettes are known as the red headed stepchild of The Corvette Community, the one you put in the closet when the other Corvettes show up. Well, the secret society tee shirt is for owners that know the 1964 Corvette is loved and proud to own and show ours. The secret is, the 1964 has the best dash gauge of ALL the Corvettes.

nice finish after using products by One Better Car Care Products. My best friend ordered products for his 2 cars. It must have made him a believer.

Added Torque Thrust IIs.....give it a more Muscle Car look

Went with 16X7 inch wheels but kept overall tire diameter close to original using 225/60/16.

I always loved the aggressive low front shot of a C2........worked to get the bumpers even.

Thanks for the comment, 63s are all about the split windows, 65s about the advent of big blocks, 66 is treasured for it's improvements and of course the holy grail is 1967 considered to be perfect. The 64s are always saddled with drum brakes, small blocks, removal of the split window, and so forth. I love all the C2s. I just happen to be able to afford a 1964, which is good enough for me.

You have a great looking 64 Vette. I like it better than the split window. Can't see good in the back window. Mario

I must confess, I was 13 in 1964 and a young man owned a 64 coupe a few houses up from my house. I sat on a milkbox (remember those) anytime the guy worked, tuned or cleaned his 64. We rarely spoke, I sat, watched and listened mesmerized. One day he looked straight at me and said "you wanna go for a ride kid?" That was it, the moment it all began. The guy showed me what the passenger grab bar was for. I immediately bought a scale model Corvette and began the journey which has been with me 50 years. I truly need to find that young guy and thank him for introducing me to the joy of cars... especially Corvettes

Among my favorite of Corvette models, especially for driving. Thanks for making keeping it looking great.

If I ever run across a correct motor, would you be interested?

Actually I'm quite happy with the small block that's in there now. I wish I could put a Tremec 5 speed in it to make it more highway friendly. It's a blast to drive in town and on back roads but I almost avoid the highways now. There are some car shows I'd love to go to but just won't put the car AND MYSELF through hours of high revving drone. I love the car, I just wish I could find a nicely priced Tremec. That's just gravy on my tatters.............

Thank you very much. Soon time to take the car cover off and get the oil changed and all the other fluids and get the tires aired up and then the fun begins. It's been a long cold hibernation for the 64. Can't wait to go for my first cruise.....

Actually I will be coming to Florida to try to locate a place this year. I have a place in AZ but I'd rather have a winter home closer to PA. I'll check where Bradenton is. I have a friend with collector cars and he lives in Indialantic and is always trying to get me to come there. Yes, having a nice Corvette and being in PA in the winter when I don't have to be is grounds to have me commited. I know, my wife has tried....several times. :-)

I'm sure you're gonna have fun ... Your rpms will be lower...your rumble will still be there...your overall ride will be smother ...and your horses won' t be very far.. Crusing in these oldies is a pure pleasure. ;)

Along with the gear change, I'm installing a set of Torque Thrust IIs in celebration of my birthday. My dream Corvette always had a mag style wheel and the knock offs are nice, but I want a more muscle car appearance. Not much to do after that other than ENJOY IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! OK, I'll TRY!!

[Reply to this comment]

pat65cuda on May 11, 2015 said:

You will enjoy your ride for sure with that gear:) Torque thrust is also a very wise choice... It is fun to have 2 or 3 choices of wheels for our oldies..It changes the personality of the car for not much money . Have fun..

Friend of mine in Atlanta had a 64 Convertable. Someone added the tri-tailights in back. I did some extensive work on the braking system. Loved every minute of working on that car. He even let me test drive her, was sorry to give her back. But my heart belongs with the coupes. Nice Car!

What a super clean (and super cool) Vette. Have fun doing your upgrades. I did several to include a Tremec 5 speed and absolutely love the ability to maintain greater highway speeds with much less wear and tear on the car and the family. I thought about swapping out the gears, but went with a Hurst Driveline conversion kit in the end. Happy cruisin!

I thought about going with a tremec and them my common sense who shall remain nameless said to me: "For how much you drive the Vette, is it really worth it?" Oh how I hate it when common sense wins out, and the wife says "See, I told you so!" Still have to love her though. The 3.36 gears will help for sure.

Warrior on Jun 2, 2015 said:

No doubt....the cost is painful, but factored into my situation, I was already sharing parts with another project and the time was coming to give them up :) ....probably helped that my common sense was informed on a need to know basis.

I'm still planning it...my wife studied to be a travel agent and she makes all the arrangements. She decided SHE was going to Ireland next summer with her sister. She forogt I wanted to go to Florida and so I asked her just 2 days ago how MY arrangements were coming along....and she said and I quote: "OOOOOOPS!"

I just added some new pics of the American Racing Torque Thruster IIs and new rubber. I finally got the 4.10s out and the 3.36 rear gears installed and removed the M21 Close Ratio and replaced with a nice M20 Wide Ratio. Now.....65 on the hiway the small block breathes at 2750 rpms.....the steeper 2.56 first gear moves the car on idle. I'm loving the car more and more. I just detailed using products from One Better Car Care Products. It really made the Daytona Blue POP. Now the fun begins, getting it dirty and racking up the miles while it's fun in the sun.

My bags are packed, they were packed by my current wife but I'm not sure if it means I'm coming to FL or being evicted. I fell for this trick from my NOW EX-wife......she said I was leaving and where I was going was a surprise. I didn't know that meant that I wasn't coming back. (Thus the surprise) I guess I'd better get the details before I just grab the bags and jump in the car. Once bitten, twice shy...........third time.you deserve it. :-)

Actually my friend in Indiatlantic is messing up my plans. Everytime I draw up plans to come to FL, he and his wife leave their home there. (maybe that's a subtle hint) He has a major interest Studebaker Restoration and Club events and attends major events so the car show circuit is driving his schedule which is messing up mine. I've canceled flights and rental cars and driving several times now. I'll get there.........

Well.spring has sprung and fall has fell, it will soon be cold as HEY how are you? Sorry I won't get to Florida this year. My friend (I thought) kind of never extended that welcome mat he spoke of. Over the summer he became quite distant. I dropped enough hints and finally decided it wasn't going to happen. So.......my wife flew back to Arizona early last month and the dog and I are driving to AZ this week. Just finished closing up shop here. I miss my OHC6 Tempest. The Corvette spent a lot of time in the shop over the summer for new rear gears and tranny and brake work. Hoping next year is a better one. Thanks for checking in on me....hope you and that STANG are trying to obey FL laws.....

To me, I can find the beauty in most any car, except the AMC Pacer.....no just kidding.....it was called the mobile aquarium.....I like fish! :-)
