(Dan Stanco) Big Blue Ford Galaxie 500 XL * Born to be Wild*

427 sideoiler with crossram quads & 4 speed toploader

ready to rock&roll

Powered by a 427 Side oiler with Lunati Voo Doo cam and Edlebrock cross-Ram quads. Since the original build I have added Air conditioning and a larger air filter and also a 4 gallon cooling system. Oh and maybe a little extra bling here and there.

Modified the instrument cluster made it a little more modern and race ready.

You sure don't see many of these at a car show! It looks ready to take to Talledega and hit the high bank oval. I love the color matched wheel with dog dish and then the huge sneakers......NICE Lets see a pic of that interior with that 4 speed....you can't just post these and expect us car nuts to be happy............come on....get the camera out......you know you wanted to anyway. That hood bulge and roofline in the rear scream speed. Nascar and I both approve........ :-)

I have to say this, I grew up with these cars but I rarely ever see one as nice as this in such great condition. I could certainly see a best of show trophy on your shelf if I was voting. And that's coming from a mostly GM guy.....don't tell on me...please!!

Thanks Guys you fellas are too kind. I have always loved the Ford Galaxies and felt for a long time they did not get the respect they deserved. The 1964 is really special to me since it is the year I gradated high school.

to think you could walk in and drop 500 bucks more for the biggest baddest motor of the times and the car would top out at about $3500-4500 . thats a lot of sheet metal to get moving and you got the set up to get r done

Funny back in the 60's I ran a 63 Fury Ram wedge and the only car that beat me regularly was a 64 Ford 427 I beat him once when he got too much traction off the line and Wrung his driveshaft off! I had never seen that happen before and was duly impressed with his torque!

Hey Poppa, everytime I look at this car the meats on it really impress me. What size wheel and tire are you running on your 64? They look stout in those wheelwells.

...The '64 Ford Galaxy 500 XL was one of my favorite cars as I owned one from !964 until 1987 and gave it away free to a school teacher in a local High School because I needed the parking space in my driveway...The beauty you have reminds me of that '64 that I once processed...The link to the following song is for a beautifully written song by Roy Orbison and you may also like hearing it as I certainly do from time to time...[urlhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m5N9IHqqGcA[/url]

Outstanding! I love your Ford. The '63-'64 Galaxie styles are among the best in my opinion and the way this one is set up is simply bad@ss! Beautiful job.

I just listened to the exhaust video.......if I did that here in Arizona, the Home Owners Association would send me cease and desist order or else. Can I borrow your car just for a day? (hee hee hee He snickered) My wife bought this house in this car-unfriendly neighborhood. Us car guys had to turn in our man-cards and car keys to the HOA Overlords......we just sit around and bench race now. I can't wait to get back to my home in PA where your car would be the lead car in a neighborhood cruise night. (heee hee hee, He snickered again)

Since those Flowmasters have broken in they have a little more rumble through the gears but still don't drone at highway speed. I just took a 180 mile trip at 75-80 mph and got a hair over 12 MPG pretty amazing I think.

Sweet ride! Are you running anything custom to fit those 15”x10” rear wheels? Or would that fit under a stock setup on a ‘64 Galaxie? (Narrowed rear etc)

To the best of my recollection the curry coil-over rear end was ordered to stock specs.
