Fenelon Falls, Ontario, Canada Car Show.

Saturday August 5, 2023.

I took in the annual Fenelon Falls car show that has now been going on for forty years. I took my 1957 Pontiac and it ran like a champ to this event there and back for the two hour drive there and the two hour drive back. Beautiful day all day and the drive was mostly sweet looking country side. This show was a huge event with many cars, as well as large trucks and a parts swap meet. All around a great event. I see entries from England, Canada, USA, Japanese, French, and the nation of Whatchamacallit.

I like the AMX with the red white and blue paint going horizontally instead of vertical that was done back then. And it has the GO GO GO PACK!

Your 57 Pontiac really looks modern and classy next to the 56 Pontiac, especially the rear view. I think GM nailed it in 1957 especially the Pontiac.

I like the 67 Impala SS, very nice and yes I miss my old "White Lightening". Very nice to see that car in great condition.

The 56 Ford is my favorite Ford also and the one at the show is in pristine condition. And the 60 Buick 2 tone is show room condition!

I liked the 54 Chevy wagon, the 57 Nomad, and the custom 55 Ford with 55 Buick tail lights, all really sharp.

We in the U.S. require a car inspection by an authorized gas station yearly and need to have a passed inspection sticker placed on the inside of the windshield.

Besides the license plate we also need to have a new registration sticker placed every 2 years inside the windshield.

Do the cars in Canada require a yearly inspection and besides the license plate do you have to show the car is registered? Cheers, Mario

Mario, thankfully we do not have to go through all that stuff that you folks go through. Here in Ontario, a vehicle has to be inspected and certified when you purchase the vehicle. A car can not be licensed unless a safety inspection is attained. There is no need for any further inspections unless you resell the car or a cop pulls you over for an obvious fault. It sounds like you folks are over regulated there. Cheers.

Yes we are over regulated here in NY and each of the States decide how much money to collect per year per car for license plates. In NY its every 2 years for registration and costs me without "special" plates depending on car and weight about $100 and up. We also have to show proof of car liability insurance.

Inspections are required every year and cost $40 and up and they always find sometime wrong which they then get paid to fix. Brakes, tires, lights, glass, etc.

I was paying $120 times three cars. He was able to do this because he is running our province with smarts instead of the usual nonsense that past liberal governments have burdened us with. You still have to register a vehicle every year or every two years on line but it does not cost anything. Thankyou to our Provincial Conservative leader Mr. Doug Ford. Cheers.

In NY they want us to use mass transit and not even own a car which is part of the reason for all the costs. They want us to take the train or busses which happen to be owned by the municipalities. That was not wise during Covid!
