Mario's Oyster Bay Car Show July 30, 2024

1960 Pontiac 389ci V8

The 9th weekly car show was held Tuesday July 30, 2024 on Main Street in our seaside town of Oyster Bay, NY.

Another fun-filled day with Street Rods and Classic Cars driving down Main Street which was closed to traffic for the car show.

The local shops and restaurants were all open and another great Rock Band was playing Oldies all day into the evening.

The 2024 Red Tesla Cybertruck showed up again. Also, a 1966 Ford Good Humor Ice Cream Truck and a 1976 Checker Cab came to the car show.

Enjoy the show, Mario

Good morning Mario and all other viewers...

I will begin by licking that 55 Chevy Pickup. Man that paint looks like soft vanilla ice cream. Then I'll sneak down to the 66 Ford Good Humor Pickup to get the real thing. I think I'm obsessed with ice cream today. There's never a bad day to have ice cream.

My grandfather ran his own ice cream stand at a small amusement park when I was small so maybe the die was cast then as he took me almost everywhere with him and so I remember all the ice cream dippers in the flowing warm water to keep them easier to cut through the ice cream and easily rinse off. Hey if you watch long enough you learn something. No such thing as soft serve then.

Okay back to the thread. It's always nice to see a green Olds included as my 69 was with gold stripes. It was the Katz Pajamas and I finally found out what that saying means.

The three Nova pics add my personal interest to the thread. Well done Mario. Thank you.

I'm leaving the Bonnie convertible for Geo, as it's favorite flavor of ice cream...

Sadly I need to take points off the the CyberCRAP.

Even if you put a very nice wheels on that it doesn't make the CyberCRAP look better, it makes the wheels look CRAPPIER. Lipstick on a pig Mario.

Well time to head home so I'll fire up the 69 Z/28 and hope it has the Chambered Exhaust and do some Trans Am Racing on the way home with 7 grand revs.

Glad the weather was good. My family in PA are complaining of drought. Not much I can help them with unless they need sand. Lots and lots and lots of sand.

Cheers to all to borrow Geo's sign off......

Nice picks Rob and I too like my Vanilla ice cream. Always my favorite flavor. I spent many days on my stoop in Jamaica NYC waiting for the Ice Cream truck to come down my block. I held my quarter in my hand until he showed up. They were cheap back then. My favorite was vanilla ice cream with chocolate covering. Still is.

So your vanilla 55 Chevy truck and the Good Humor truck are great choices.

Glad you liked the 3 Novas, they're not easy to find at car shows. The 66 Chevy ll Nova was immaculate. I wanted to buy one new when they came out but I decided to join the Marines instead in 1966. They were hot on the quarter mile track with a 327 back then.

Thank you for your back story about your grandfather owning an ice cream stand. Always amusing and entertaining. Cheers my friend, Mario

Ah yes George, you picked a lot of my favorites, we have a lot in common.

The 69 Camaro Z28 you picked was a real hot beauty. Looked like it just came off the showroom floor. My 69 Camaro SS didn't look as good when I bought it off the showroom floor at Roberts Chevy Dealer in Hicksville, NY. I was still in the Marines back then and needed a car since I was stationed at Camp Lejeune NC and drove home to NY on the weekends a distance of 650 miles one way.

Of course I already mentioned how much I like the 66 Chevy ll Nova. I wanted that car so bad back then. Good pick George.

I always pick the 62 Impala also. My girlfriend later my wife now of 55 years had a 62 Impala when I met her in 1968. It was a creampuff and I couldn't resist the car nor her! It was a vanilla White 2 door HT with a red interior and a 327 V8. What could be better than that!

Finally I knew you would like the 60 Pontiac Bonny. A rare car today and with the 389 V8 a real mover. Same color combo convertible as my first car a 59 Pontiac Catalina convertible.

Thanks George for your picks and Cheers to you, Mario.
