Mario's Oyster Bay Car Show May 27, 2025.

1953 Chevy Pick Up Truck.

The 2025 season of the Oyster Bay Cruise Night kicked off Tuesday May 27, 2025 to a very anxious crowd of spectators and classic car owners.

Main St was once again closed off to traffic and we had a mile long block party filled with cars, cars, cars. The shops along Main St were all open where you can get a hot dog at the 1897 Bonanza Shack walk up or a full 3 course meal at Teddy’s Grill and many other fine restaurants. The Oyster Bay Brewery was open and is a favorite hangout.

My brother John picked me up in his classic 1968 Corvette convertible and we drove to the car show with the top down on a beautiful Spring day.

We even had a one-man band playing the Oldies for us! Welcome to a Summer of Oyster Bay NY Cruise Nights with yours truly.

I would like to dedicate this First of many to come Oyster Bay Cruise Night Pages to our long time American Torque friend The Bear 166. Here’s to you Bear and there was also a 1953 Chevy Pickup Truck at the show which I made the cover to this Page!

Enjoy! Mario.

I will cover as many of the weekly car shows that I can in Oyster Bay so keep coming back for more on American Torque.

I promised The Bear 166 that I would dedicate this first car show to him, so here you are Bear. Stay healthy and enjoy my weekly car shows. Let me know what you think. Enjoy, Mario

Wow, Mario, what a great location for a cruise-in! You're lucky to live near by. Beautiful selection of cars, including your brother's sweet '68 Corvette!

Well IT IS ABOUT TIME someone posts so car show pics. Sadly my trips to car shows has been few and far away. The local one I normally visit, Little Anthony's in Tucson is now doing night shows.

I has surgery on my eyes back in the 90s and now I have all this scar tissue that just makes everything blurry, like rubbing vaseline on your glasses.

So, I do not drive at night unless it is absolutely an emergency. And Little Anthony's evening shows will run from April to about November so I won't be attending them.

Besides I don't have a car to drive and enter for the show. So I appreciate you Mario making another thread with Oyster Bay cars.

Thanks Mario....keep up the great work. Rob

Hi Rob and welcome to the 2025 Car Show season in NY, FINALLY!!! I've been waiting all winter for this and it's finally here!

Sorry to hear about your eye troubles and not driving at night. It's tough getting old and not being able to do what we love.

Well luckily the Cruise Night on Tuesdays in my home town of Oyster Bay is only 1/2 mile from where I live. I could actually walk there if I had to. So I plan on going there each week and posting the pictures.

I don't know what happened to George DeJesus aka 57timemachine. He's been AWOL since January this year. Last year I named King of the Car Shows but so far nothing this year from him. He's about 11 years younger than me and he was in good health as far as I know. I hope he's all right. I miss his knowledge and comments.

In the mean time I hope you and all the AT community enjoy my car shows each week. As George would say: Cheers, Mario

I was also wondering about George. I sent him an email earlier this year and never received a reply.

Let's pray the best for him.

Yes it's a 90 minute round trip to go to Little Anthonys and much of it on Interstate 10 which is becoming the worst interstate for upkeep and safety modifications to handle all the truck traffic. Bad enough not seeing but then having to compete for space on 10, no thanks. I'll just log on here and see all the cars I want.

Well Rob we don't want you to take any unnecessary chances driving to a car show. I'm only a few blocks away from my weekly car show and I'll try to hit all of them.

Glad you enjoyed the first of many to come this year. How did you like the cream puff 70 Nova with window sticker? I know you had a 71 Nova so I hope it put a smile on your face.

I'm looking forward to the next car show on Tuesday and will post the pictures as soon as I can. Stay tuned! Cheers, Mario

Yes that 1970 NOVA is suhweeeet!! Love the price tag. Back then when I was just getting out of school, $3000 was like out of this world to me.

I'm staying tuned for you to work your magic......

And did you notice that Mazda RX-7 with a Corvette engine? That engine filled the whole engine bay! I don't know how he was able to do that. That car is a real sleeper!

Any plans for another classic car in the future for you Rob? Did you notice the 78 Corvette 25 year Pace car? What a beauty! I know you had an eye for one before. This one was stock and showroom condition.

As George would say, Cheers! My friend Rob. And enjoy the show, Mario

Good morning Mario,

Yes I did notice that RX-7 (?????) if you can now call it that anymore....with the Corvette engine. These guys who do engine transplants are missing their calling in the medical field. If you can stuff a LS into a Mazda engine bay, you have talents that may allow you to put body parts in places where there's no room..I could use another brain........this one in shrinking I know I can hear the rattle.

I'm not sure what the future as far as car hooby goes. I need to have like 4 surgeries, both hips and knees. That lying on concrete has taken it's fair share of the blame.

I was hoping I could put these events to later in life but the medications taken to relieve the pain is getting to be too much.

Listen to me go on and on like an Ol' Geezer. Sorry....but that's the truth.

I've enjoyed and hated the hobby. Now that I am a seasoned veteran of cars, I try to focus on the good ones I had and wondered why I sold them.

Especially my 64 Corvette Coupe. But life lives and moves forward so I will see what comes my way.

I loved your sign off of CHEERS! In honor of George. Make it a good day for someone and your blessing to them will come your way.

Wherever you are George, we miss you!!!

Well Rob if you need the surgeries to have a less painful and more productive life then go for it. I've had many operations in my lifetime and found that the sooner the better. It only gets worse if you stall.

I will say prayers for you Rob for you to decide what's best for you at this time. I know many people who have had hip and knee surgery and they are living much better pain free lives and happy they went through it.

But you need to decide what you want, what's best for you and then go for it. Everything will be all right because you are a good person.

I too wonder why I sold some of my cars. But at the time with facts and circumstances known it was the best thing to do. So I don't dwell on it because it doesn't change anything.

Cheers Rob, and I always enjoy your stories, Mario
