Oyster Bay Car Show August 26, 2025

1927 Ford Model A

Our weekly Oyster Bay Cruise Night Car Show was held Tuesday August 26, 2025, and again we had great weather with low humidity. All around it was a wonderful evening to be at the car show.

The Oyster Bay Band played our favorite oldies, and we had lots of good food and classic cars for our entertainment.

I am hopeful the weather will remain fall-like for the rest of the car show season.

Enjoy the show! Mario.

Well, well, well, Mario aren't you the cats pajamas???

And I have no idea what that means.

I see you picked out my red Olds 442 with white interior. You have good tastes.

Glad your weather is now being normal. Well as far as normal can be.

My weather is out of the 100s now. Thank you Lord.

Since we rarely if ever seea Chevy Vega offering, the color on the 442 energized my memory back to I think 1972 when I bought a red Vega (stop laughing) with a white interior. Hey it was a GT. The stripes added 50 HP at least.

My story, I picked the car up at the dealer. I needed a fuel efficient car to get to work and home. The daily trip was about 80 miles.

I was ridesharing also and my buddy was excited to see the car. I picked him up at the meet point and we are on our way to work. We arrived and got out of the car.

I looked over at the passenger seat, what is all the black on the seat??????????????????????

My buddy (term used loosely) and I worked in the shipping dept and he had a BLACK MAGIC MARKER, in his back jean pocket. The cap came off during the ride and buttocks grafitti was the result.

I was heartsick. Nothing could remove the ink. NOTHING. I told everyone is was an autograph by Richard Petty. When they stated there was no Vegas in the Richard Petty line.

I said, it's a one off, collector edition. What else can one do? Seatcover??????? Yes that was the solution that eventualy presented itself and applied.

I felt my "friend" should buy me a new seat. Well that ended the ride share with a "friend" program.

Wow Rob what a sad story about your new Vega with a white interior and your "car pool buddy". He got your white seat ruined with his black magic marker! I agree he should have bought you a new seat. I would have felt awful and would have tried getting the seat reupholstered.

My sister had a used 1971 Vega in red with a black interior. Unfortunately it didn't last long. Her engine seized one day and she ended up junking it. The 4 cyl aluminum engine was common for that.

Thank you for your insights and great story Rob!

Cheers, Mario

A lot of nice rides. I see the BOATTAIL, a 1969 Olds, looks like a Cutlass. I always review the pics searching the background for other gems.

That must be an expensive place to live. I rarely see a RAT ROD there. Must be a car show rule.

Cheers to all and Mario........

Rob, your good spotting that Boattail car pic 39 which I've shown before. It's an original 1936 Auburn which I high-lighted in my Oyster Bay Car Show June 3, 2025.

It's a real beauty right out of Long Island’s Gold Coast along the North Shore from The Great Gatsby era during the Roaring 20's and 30's Jazz Age.

And you're right again pic 40 there's a 1969 Olds Cutlass next to a blue Chevelle SS. Good spotting!

I don't see Ratrods around here nor those crazy cars that bounce up and down like in LA so I'm happy where I am. I see a lot of very classy and exotic cars and am thrilled to capture them to showcase on AT. I'm happy you appreciate the cars I picture.

Maybe when the temps get cooler in AZ you can show me some of the cars you have in the Southwest. I'm interested in seeing what you have there.

George gave us a good perspective of the car shows in Canada and I learned a lot from him on the Canadian version of American cars.

Thank you again Rob for your great stories and insights. I will continue posting car shows and many other pages for my new goal of 300! Cheers, Mario
