Gold Coast Waterfront Car Show, Glen Cove, NY June 28, 2026 Part 2

1970 Olds Convertible

I was not able to attend the Annual Gold Coast Car Show in Glen Cove NY on Sunday June 28, but my brother John attended with his beautiful 1968 Corvette Convertible.

The car show on the Long Island Sound waterfront was sold out at capacity with 1,000 entries. Lots of classic cars and spectators were at the all-day event. Morgan Park has over 40 acres of pristine waterfront land donated by JP Morgan in 1932 for public use.

Howard Kroplick attended the car show with his beautiful award winning 1930 Duesenberg J Murphy Convertible Sedan Berline.

I made the 1970 Olds Convertible my Cover to this Page because I just thought it was a beautiful car in pristine condition, rarely seen, and I loved the color.

My brother John took many pictures of the car show, and he sent them to me to post on American Torque. I had to make this Page in 2 Parts and here is Part 2.

Enjoy the show, Mario.

Ahhhhhhhh part DEUX, time for another bag of popcorn. The Olds convertible is sharp Mario. I see some one doesn't see much of. The Mercury Cougar reminds me of my first wife's car. That 68 Plymouth RT I like..

I caught that remark about the Thunderbird Tailights......I chuckle now, not so much back in 1970.

I see the Orphan AMC AMX and it being an odd year of 1971. I took it for a Javelin. I always loved the 68-70 AMXs. They reminded me of a poor man's Corvette.

Nice work Mario, and I hope the heat is finally leaving New York headed out to the ocean..

Take care and hope you had an awesome 4th of July.

And thanks again John for the fill-in.....you did great. Must run in the family. ;-)

Thanks for your comments Rob and yes I had a great 4th of July celebrated at my other brother's home Frankie with an old fashioned BBQ. He invited the whole family and friends for his yearly BBQ about 45 to 50 people and we all went in his underground pool. The day was very hot over 100 degrees and high humidity but the pool was refreshing. The weather is finally starting to break in the 80's today. I hope you had a wonderful Independence Day also.

The cars that show at the Gold Coast Car Show are always unique and high class. My brother John did a nice job capturing a wide variety of classics.

The '70 Olds Convertible, my choice for cover, caught my eye as well as many others. I'm glad you caught my T-Bird Tail Lights remark. A big tragedy hitting that T-Bird with your new '69 442 on a wintry day.

Best Regards, Mario
