Oyster Bay Car Show August 4, 2026

1952 Ford

My next Oyster Bay Car Show for this year was held on August 4, 2026.

This week the car show was on, and we had many classics, spectators and car owners attending. The weather was hot but bearable and there was no rain. Main St was closed off to traffic, and we had a mile long block party filled with many classic cars from all over Long Island NY.

The shops were open along Main St with vendors, food, drinks and fine restaurants.

Another great band played our favorite oldies, and everyone had a good time, young and old.

I chose the beautiful 1952 Ford Crestline Sunliner Convertible as my Cover for this Page. A rarely seen car at shows and this was my Dad’s first new car. In honor of his birthday in Heaven August 25th, this one’s for you Dad.

First off, they say the 1959 Cadillac had the tallest tailfins in the generation. So does the Plymouth Superbird NOT qualify for that honor of the tallest tailfins of all time????

I had to get that off my chest first.

As I open the pics on my first viewing, I do a quick scan to see what catches my eye and then go back and review the pics again, and yes again.

First off, thanks for the Olds 442, you treat me so well.

I see the Dukes of BUZZARDS, as a kid I'd call the TV show, were attending the show. Funny how much media attention was focused on the Dodge Charger of that era with the Dukes using it and the one in the BULLITT movie.

I do like me some of that 65 Impala. And the 68 Cougar was a welcome change to the show.

I believe your Dad is proud to have you select one of HIS favorite rides as your COVER CAR. Well done Son, I'm sure he would say, well done!!

I'm still quite used to all the entries with the big wheels and tires looking jammed into the wheel wells. The old 14 inch and 15 inch may have looked small but now the opposite is looking too large.

Each car is a car lover's pallet and as such, the owner gets to decide what's hot and what's not. Speaking of HEAT, it's finally cooled, and we use that word very carefully here, cooled down a bit and with the Super El Nino, the rainfall here is doing quite well. The weeds love it.

Glad it cooled down to tolerable levels for your area. Thanks again for the street display of memorabilia. It never gets old looking at the past and recalling the good 'ol DAZE!

Thank you Rob for your comments and colorful stories as usual. I guess the Superbird fins do top the 59 Caddy as the tallest ever. Good point.

My Dad always spoke about his 52 Ford and liked it a lot. He finally traded it in for a 1959 Chevy Station Wagon. I added a couple of more 52 Ford videos so take a look.

Like you said it never gets old looking at the past and recalling the good old days. It puts a Big smile on my face. Take care Rob and stay cool.
