Another sell out crowd at the Oyster Bay Cruise night car show held on August 25th which was also my Dad’s Birthday. A great tribute to my Dad who taught me to love cars.

North Shore car enthusiasts can admire classic and custom vehicles as they explore downtown Oyster Bay. The weekly event has become a longtime tradition in downtown Oyster Bay, attracting more than 250 vehicles and over 1,000 attendees on a typical night with live music, local shops and restaurants, and a kid zone located in the parking lot mid-block on Main St.

I had to make this car show in 2 parts because of the sellout number of cars. This is part 1 of 2 parts. MİSTER NOBODY a U-Tuber was there, and I posted his video on this Page.

I went with my wife and two brothers and their wives to the car show to celebrate our dad’s birthday. He passed away in 2009. We all had a wonderful time.

My cover car is the 1968 Chrysler Newport Sportsgrain Convertible. Only 173 convertibles were made. A 1968 only limited run making it a rare and distinctive piece of Mopar history. Surviving examples are highly sought after by collectors. This one was all original. Enjoy, Mario.

First I need to thank the author of this thread for a sighting of a rare 1968 Hurst Olds. Thank you kind Sir.

Moving on, I agree with your choice of poster car for that is one rare ride. Wooden applique on a boat and put the top down and cruise. That thing looks longer than a STate of the Union message.

That 1949 Ford C-rig, whatever that is has me buffaloed. And I see plenty of wood in the pics before that.

A nice sampling of early muscle with the Hemi 1964 by Plymouth. And of course the smattering of Chevrolets with the 57, 60, 61, and 62 not one but two Biscaynes.

And then the muscle cars begin to appear. And then to see a PINTO STATION WAGON, and even it had wood along with the porthole in the rare side glass. Cowabunga Dude and dudettes.

When I worked for FedEx my company car was a Pinto Station Wagon. It got me from place to place and was very easy to use if I needed to help a driver make deliveries on time. I put a lot of miles on that ride before they upgraded me to a full size van. That was back in the late 70s. Wow has time passed.

And of course a Bentley is a welcomed guest at any car show. Okay so now I'm waiting for part deux. Let's see what offerings that thread has for us.

Funny I attended a Cars and Coffee yesterday as I needed the coffee and that's my story. I felt so out of place as I had to be 20 to 25 years older than all the participants in attendance.

I felt like I was someone's father there. The crowd was nice, but I'm sure they wondered why I didn't have any piercings or tattoos. No one asked, but it seemed to be a question hanging in the air. And hour with them and I got my coffee and headed home feeling a whole heck of a lot older than when I left the house.

There is another Cars and Coffee somewhere around here, I think like 50 miles away. Long way to get coffee, but it may be worth the cruise. I may even find someone Mario's age to talk to......;-) Who knows???????????

The poster car I picked which you also agreed on, the 1968 Chrysler Newport Sportsgrain WOODY Convertible was a wonderful rare find. Only 173 convertibles were made and who knows how many exist today. It is as long as a boat and it actually had an anchor attached to the rope that you see in the front!

Not sure what the 49 Ford C-rig is all about but it took a lot of work in modifying this car. The pickup bed is nice but what is the ramp and all the rails all about? I wanted to talk to the owner but there were so many cars there I didn't want to overlook them.

Nice story you have on the Pinto station wagon, another rare car. It was a nice treat for me to see this car not seeing many Pintos at car shows. This one was a beauty with that port hole window and faux wood paneling. Lots of woody cars today.

And Lots of muscle cars also and the Bentley was the cream of the crop. Cousin to the Roll Royce.

And finally as far as Cars and Coffee goes which is the latest thing here at car shows. I'm glad to see the younger kids going to the car shows even if it's just to get there multi-flavored multi-layered coffee! Anything to get them to come to car shows is good enough for me.

And if you can find someone my age to talk to at a Cars and Coffee car show (I'll be 80 years old next March 25th) it will be worth it!

I have to admit I don't recall many dreams. I've always had interrupted sleeping habits.

This dream was one that has stayed with me since it occurred.

I dreamt I was in heaven and my grandfather was there. He came and hugged me and said wait til you see what is waiting for you. I followed him to a bunch of closed barns on what seem to be this huge unending Farm.

He opened the barn door and inside, the barn was absolutely full of every Ford from every year ever built. My jaw hit the barn floor. He tugged my arm and said look here. Another barn, and it has every Chevrolet ever built. And then to the MOPAR Barn and onto the Buick, and Pontiac and on and on and on.

SO many barns and so many many many cars. Then my grandfather said, Robert, God allows us to drive any of the vehicles we want. Right there, I just wanted to remain forever in that moment, and it appears my mind decided to imprint that dream so deep I can't forget it, ever.

Is that a Car Lover's heavenly dream??????? The greatest part is my grandfather, who was so institutional in my life, that he was there with me, again. And that dream, has been etched in my memory as the greatest dream I have ever had in my 75 years.

I hold onto that when I need a comforting moment in life. And that is quite often the older I get.

That is definitely a car lovers dream come true. Hold onto that dream and know that your Grandfather is looking after you and wants to be a part of your life.
