Mario's Oyster Bay Car Show June 10, 2025

1970 Chevelle SS 454

Our 3rd weekly Oyster Bay Car Show was held Tuesday June 10, 2025 and was another huge success. The Oyster Bay Band played lots of great Oldies to the spectators’ delight.

Lots of nice cars showed up and I went to the car show with my brother John in his 1968 Corvette Convertible. It was another gorgeous Spring day.

Again, we had a great time looking at all the cars, listening to the music and having a hot dog!

Enjoy the show. Summer is around the corner Cheers, Mario

Hey hey hey.... It's time for another car show boys and girls...... Sit back and relax and enjoy the genre.

Now immediately I saw a 1968 HURST OLDS, silver with the black stripe sitting beside the 31 Ford Pickup. PIC#3

So I quickly scanned the pics and low and behold, NO HURST OLDS PIC!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

And there's an Olds Starfire in Pics 9 & 10 and beside it.....another Olds, looks like a 1970 Cutlass Canovertible with the Ram Air Hood, could've been a W-30.

But we will never know.

So what's left?

I'm not here to pic on Mario. It's 105 here today and the days of my butt on hot vinyl seats and a black plastic steering wheel with a chrome shift knob burning my hand is a reminder, of how much we sacrifice in our love of cars and memoriabilia.

IT's WINTER here in AZ, like the snowbelt, we hide inside with AC running at ma, not fireplaces and furnaces as the winter states do.

I'm glad to be able to log on and find some beautiful cars and what looks like wonderful weather.

So thanks Mario and forget I said anything about those missing Oldsmobiles. I' having a case of cabin fever, it too shall pass come October.

I'll give my choice as the 64 GTO, nice to see one of the originals still vibrating the street.

Stay safe and stay humble......

I agree with your top choice of the 64 GTO Rob. It was a beautiful stock classic. I don't see many of these anymore.

I really loved the 1970 Chevelle SS 454 which I made the cover to this Page. The chart claims it has 650 HP although Chevy advertised only 450 HP. Chevy did this so the cars could be legally insured by the car insurance companies. Now we know the truth how Chevy downplayed the HP.

Another seldom seen classic is the 1978 Corvette 25th Anniversary Pace Car. A great stock classic in showroom condition. I think I've only seen about 3 in my lifetime and this one was in top condition. I thought you as a previous Corvette owner would have made mention of it. You're a hard man to please Rob. My brother John was all over this car.

Have a great Father's Day and thanks for your comments. Cheers, Mario.

Mario, Im a man of many likes and dislikes. I think sometimes I get bored of a car model and need to search out the neglected and ignored.

I think they are all great, don't get me wrong. I'd love to find an AMX. Never owned an AMC ride.

I was even looking at a 1971 Opel GT. Remember them with the flip over on their back headlights. GM marketed them and they were called the "POOR MAN'S CORVETTE" and that fits me like a glove.

Sadly the car was in pieces and you know how pieces go missing trying to assemble the car. And to try to get replacement parts, not as easy as your local Autozone.

He only wanted $1,000 for the car but the market is not very strong for them. If the car could be guaranteed to be complete, I would;ve tried it.

But I usually end up on the losing end of these drop dead offers.

Best wishes to you for Father's Day.

Rob
