Mario's Oyster Bay Car Show June 17, 2025

Marine Toys For Tots Racing Car My 199th AT Page

Our 4th weekly Oyster Bay Cruise Night was held last night June 17, 2025 and Main St was again closed for the show. There is a mile long road Main St which connects with Audrey Ave where the Cruise Night occurs. The show cars are allowed to “Cruise” down the road and park for showing then come around and park again somewhere else. I may see the same car in two different spots during the show as I walk up the mile and back. After I take all the pictures I like to sort the cars by year for presentation on AT.

Rob of American Torque spotted a 68 Hurst Olds in my last week’s car show and I went back to find pictures of the car. I posted them in this week’s car show for all to see. Thanks for the heads up, Rob.

We had Hot Rods and Classic Cars from the 50’s, 60’s and 70’s including the Marine Corps Toys For Tots Racing Car. Toys For Tots is a great national charity that collects toys for needy children all year and then the Marines distribute them to children at Christmas time. Thank you Marine Corps!

Well this is my 199th American Torque Page and my next one will be a special Number 200 Page. Look for it soon. You can see all my 199 Pages on my Members address here. Just cut and paste on a browser search line:

Another great Oyster Bay Cruise Night and my 199th AT Page. A special 200th AT Page coming up soon.

The Marine Toys For Tots Racing Car was a great treat and the kids loved it. Please donate if you can for a worthy cause. Children should not be without a Toy on Christmas.

Cheers, Mario

If it's Wednesday on AT, it must be another Car Show thread by Mario.........and his 199TH !!!!!!!!!!!! Wow that hurts my head just thinking of all he's put into this site over the years.

Thanks for the Hurst Olds and the 1970. For some reason I am in an Olds frame of mind of late. I saw a beauty 1969 in my favorite color, 4 speed, with less than 35K miles in California.

Sadly the price was out of my range but that car brought back so many memories from 1970. Mine had the BENCH SEAT IN VINYL, and the 4 speed and if I wanted my lady to be a bit closer, just a hard turn brought her sliding over to my side.

That was a worthy cause for the Car Show. And you did a great job covering a lot of makes and models.

It was over 110 degrees in my garage yesterday so I've been missing the feel of hot wrenches in my hands. Just putting new front brakes for the wife on her 2018 Durango. Yes it's a HEMI !!!!!

I can't wait to see your 200th rendering Mario. You can add this feat to your portfolio of lifetime accomplishments.

I for one will be front and center to give you the applause and recognition you deserve.

So my choice foe this show IS the Hurst Olds. Not crazy about how subtle the car is, but they sure stepped that up in 1969 with their White and Frost Gold paint scheme and mailbox hood that was hard to miss.

Thanks again for the tour of Oyster Bay. Rob

Thanks, Rob, for your sweet comments and I'm glad I found the Hurst Olds pictures. It's a rare car and it's in showroom condition with the monster 455 V8.

The 70 442 was also a clean stock car and worthy of mention. I was never an Olds car guy, but I do appreciate the Olds cars today. They were overshadowed by Chevy and Pontiac within GM not to mention the other car manufacturers. But I do remember the Olds 88 Nascar race cars that were hot in the 50's.

I agree the old bench seat cars were great at Drive-Ins and overall driving with your girl next to you. I wasn't a fan of the bucket seats when they came out. But nothing lasts forever.

I've been working on my 200th Page for a while and I hope you like it. It's hard coming up with new Pages other than covering the car shows which I intend to do this year.

Too bad we lost George on AT who I named King of the Car Shows last year. George was an avid car show presenter, and I truly hope he is all right. But I will take over the car shows this year for George.

Thank you, Rob and Brandon and all my AT friends, for all your support throughout the years. I will continue covering car shows and coming up with new ideas for American Torque.

I love doing this and I will continue as long as I can. As George would say, Cheers, Mario.

Wow, I can't believe you're at 199 pages, Mario! It seems like yesterday when you hit 100, which itself was an amazing milestone. Thanks! If I have to pick a favorite, I think it will be the 35 Ford 5-window hot rod. Or the 60 Impala.

Thank you, Brandon, and keep a look out for my 200th Page coming soon. It will be posted before the next car show.

The 35 Ford 5 window coupe with flames all over was definitely a good-looking hot rod. That is some paint job on that car and the 60 Impala is a beauty also, looks like it just came out of the showroom.

I remember first seeing the 60 Impala at Konners Chevrolet dealer in Levittown, NY. I was 13 years old and very much into cars. Good times!
