Mario's Oyster Bay Car Show July 8, 2025

1970 Plymouth Road Runner Superbird

Our weekly Oyster Bay Cruise Night was held last night July 8, 2025 and Main St was again closed for the show. Another hot band played oldies all night and again we had music, food and lots and lots of cars.

Due to heavy rain, last week’s car show was cancelled. But this week the car show was on, and we had Hot Rods and Classic Cars from the 50’s, 60’s, 70’s, a 1950 Ford Firetruck and a 1950 VW Bus. We even had a very rare 1970 Plymouth Road Runner Superbird, only 1,935 reportedly built.

Enjoy the Car Show, Mario.

It was a normal hot summer day but the cars and the spectators showed up anyway. Being so close to the water we usually get a nice ocean breeze to help cool things off.

The Plymouth Superbird was a big treat with only 288 surviving today.

Enjoy the Car Show! Mario

Hey Mario, thanks for braving the heat and humidity but I'm sure you've endured much worse in your military career. Lots of jicy bits to choose a winner from. From VW to Ford GT. And a lot in between.

I saw the 68 Olds 442, thank you. And the Corvette. But that 55 2 door is in my favorite color and it caught my eye in the beginning and was still in my eye at the end of the thread.

I never had one of the tri-fives.

Yes that Superbird was quite a show stopper. I saw one sitting outside a garage in PA when I lived there and I kept going to see the owner if it was for sale. I watched it slowly deteriorate. I think he used it to get customers to come into his shop.

Year after year and PA weather is not conducive to being kind on cars. But his car, his rules.

It was 106 here today and with more humidity than normal, it was hot hot hot. I enjoyed this show since it's too hot to go to a day one anywhere near Tucson or Phoenix or any desert towm or city.

Thanks again, nice variety. Well done. Like your steak would be if you left it outside on the driveway. :-)

Oh I did like how you tied some history into the thread. I liked history in school.

Wow 106 is horrible Rob! I don't know how you can stand it. I guess you have to do your best to stay cool. There were so many really nice cars at this show and you mentioned some of them. But it was hot and humid here too. Thanks for your comments I appreciate hearing them. I'm working on other pages besides car shows and will post them when we get rained out. Stay cool Rob and maybe you can do a page also on any car subject you want. Cheers, Mario

Thanks for the offer or suggestion but I'll need to pass. You've set the bar so high, that a pewney offering by me would be deleted. I'm losing just a bit of the enthusiasm of the hobby. Maybe it's the heat keeping me trapped inside, and also not being able to drive to the night shows due to my declining vision.

You've covered a myriad of cars in your now over 200 posts. I appreciate your work more than you know. For me, Im on the curb waving to all the cool cars driving by giving them the thumbs up!!

I believe SOP will dictate, Mario makes the car show pages. And you can't buck SOP without a higher authorities approval. So TAG YOU'RE IT!!!!

I appreciate your comments on my Pages more than you know, Thank You!

I'm working on the 10 Best Muscle Cars of all time so watch out for it. Everyone has their own preferences, but you know I'll do it the Scientific way. Stay tuned and cheers my AZ friend. Mario
