2001 Chevy Impala SS

Eighth generation First FWD (2000–2005). Ninth generation FWD (2006–2013).

Tenth generation FWD (2014–2020).

The Chevrolet Impala was Chevy’s flagship sedan since 1958. The Impala offers an impressive amount of interior space and class-leading cargo capacity in its trunk. With all the latest tech features and an available punchy engine, the Impala is a comfortable cruiser. There has been a total of 10 generations of the Impala since 1958 through 2020.

Spacious Cabin: The Impala is known for its roomy interior, providing ample space for both front and rear passengers.

The final Chevrolet Impala was built at the Detroit/Hamtramck assembly plant on February 27, 2020. This was the End of an ERA due to the downtrend of sales for full-size sedans and the popularity of crossover SUVs.

This has been my three part tribute to the famous Chevy Impala with a total of 211 pictures to tell the story of all 10 Generations and a book full of knowledge, comments and trivia.

I cannot think of any other automobile success story like the Chevy Impala aside from the Ford Model T. The Impala was produced from 1958 through 2020 for an amazing total of 8 Decades.

I was fortunate to have owned an Impala myself, a 1967 White 2 door hardtop 327 V8.

I wonder if the Chevy Impala will come back for an 11th Generation? Enjoy, Mario

Looks like someone has been dipping into the Impala Pool in this hot weather. Smart!!!!

I don't have any personal knowledge or stories of this generation.

I did see the famous 3800 was in the earlier models. That is an awesome engine. Especially when hooked to a supercharger.

However, seems Chevy in all their wisdom went to a 3.6 which I heard has had it's issues.

I copied and pasted this from the Chevy Relaiabilty Guide:

Conclusion

While very solid now, many have questioned the Chevy 3.6 V6 reliability because of the issues older models faced. Not like it’s so easy to get rid of a stigma.

However, while the engine is now mechanically powerful, note that it’s not completely problem-free. Complaints are just at the barest minimum. The most efficient way to ensure durability is to keep up with regular oil changes and use proper synthetic oil.

I do like the body style change in 2014. That little body line going up and over the rear wheel makes it look like a rear wheel muscle car.

Well thats all my brain has in it today. Thanks for the awesome review of the Impala Family. Just like any family there's some awesone, and some god and then there's those you don't talk about at family reunions.

Stay dry due to the hurricane and cool.

another 100 day here in the world's largest beach, just no water.

Cheers

Good catch Rob on the 10th Gen bump out over the rear wheels. It was also on the front wheels too. Much nicer than the flat sides of previous generations.

The SUV world took over the sedan market. And most especially the Impala so 2020 was the last Swan Song for the spirited Impala. Maybe we'll see an Impala SUV? Cheers, Mario.
