I was fortunate to attend the Vanderbilt Museum Car Show Sunday Nov 9th. What better way to end the car show season than with 100 Mustangs, Fords and Exotic cars at the beautiful Vanderbilt Museum and Mansion located in Centerport, NY on Long Island’s prestigious North Shore. A big thrill was seeing the 1948 Tucker Torpedo again, my choice for this page Cover.
Eagle’s Nest is the summer home of William K. Vanderbilt II. He is the great-grandson of Cornelius Vanderbilt nicknamed “The Commodore”. Cornelius Vanderbilt was a Shipping and Railroad tycoon and a self-made multi-millionaire. He became one of the wealthiest Americans of the 19th century.
The Vanderbilt Mansion is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Eagle’s Nest was built initially in 1910 as a small English cottage. Over the next 30 years, the house grew into the sprawling 24 room Spanish-Revival mansion that is seen today.
Unique among many mansions, Eagle’s Nest was not only built with living space for Mr. Vanderbilt and his family, but also museum space where Vanderbilt could showcase the thousands of natural history and cultural specimens he had collected from his worldwide travels. The 43-acre grounds and waterfront property are a perfect place to host this car show.

Another great and historic car show for 2025. So many exotic cars that are museum quality. The Best was seeing the 1948 Tucker S/N 1044 again, Long Island's own.
The Vanderbilt Museum is outstanding and a must see for any Long Island traveler. There's even a Planetarium here. There is something for everyone of all ages. Cheers, Mario
