My day at "Dick's Classic Garage"

A jewel of a place in San Marcos, Texas

Period Memorabilia: The museum displays an array of memorabilia throughout: Hanging on the walls, sitting on the floor, etc. Here are a few of the items I caught on camera.

The rest of the pictures show the descriptive placard followed by the photo(s) of the car. Please bear in mind the following: 1: I'm just a car enthusiast but a marginal photographer. 2: I had to borrow a camera for the day because we left ours behind. 3: By the time I made it to the museum, I only had an hour to see it all and take the pictures you are about to see.

The photos are in order by year, make, etc.

Enjoy!!

PS: If you see a photo with an incorrect description, please let me know.

And finally, Here are two shots of the "Back Room" where maintenance, restoration, etc., continues. It looks to me like there's lots of "new displays" coming in the future.

The one you didn't get the placard of looks like a 1932 Marmon 2 Passenger Coupe. And the one you have labeled as the Marmon is actually a 1931 Packard 840 Deluxe 8 Roadster. And the one you have name that packard is a 1931 Cadillac 452A V-16 Sport Phaeton.

Thank you so much for the information you supplied. I have corrected all three of the entries and moved them to their proper position in the "show", i.e., ordered by model year and then by descriptive name (make, model, etc.)

No problem. Thank you for posting these pictures. Was there a few weeks ago and was having so much fun taking pictures,I didn't think about getting the placards. So I've been having to do a lot of searching for the info for my photos. This page made it a lot easier.

You are welcome. I started taking pictures of the placards after a few years of taking pictures at car shows and later being unable to identify the cars. I generally try to store each show's pics in a folder named as "show date" "show name/place". It helps me review the pics later.

I normally delete the placard pics after naming each photo from it but in the case of "Dick's Garage" I realized that they contained a lot of interesting info. In the future I'll be more careful to capture a better photo of the placards.

Thanks for this good info. I was there last weekend to deliver a donation of 50 years of Motor Trend magazine. Great place! John Burgeson jwburgeson@gmail.com)
