My '68 Firebird 350 HO

4 Speed

This is my 1968 FIrebird 350 Ho 4 Speed Convertable. I bought this in 1988 from my High School Buddies parents. They had it since new and sold it to me after a fire. It had 26000 miles on it when I got the car and now it has about 34000. We did alot of partying in this car in the seventies. And I always wanted to buy it. When we graduated High School in 1980 my friend moved away, and the car sat for 8 years, until unfortunatly a fire took their place and almost the car too. My friend didn't have a place for it, and it was sitting outside so they finally decided to let the car go. I was first on the list and of course I went into debt to buy it. It did need a complete restoration as it had been attacked by mice, and weather. When I got the car it needed a new top and upholstry, motor work etc.. i put on the new top and 6 months later my children took a box cutter to it. At that time i had the seats in getting redone, and the guy got thrown in jail, i almost lost my seats, he stripped them to the frames and that's how I got them back. I was pretty upset, and threw everyting in the car and let it set in my shop for 15 years, without touching it. 5 years ago my wife surprised me and had my seats redone, and the restoration progress finally was ready for me to start again. After the seats, a new top, carpet, rebuilt motor, body and paint. A machine shop rebuilt the motor, and I did everything else, down to the paint. House of Kolor Candy Apple Red. It was a big project, and it took some time. This Firebird has been Documented through the Pontiac Historical Society (PHS) and is a true gem. I do body and paint work on the side and I will post some more pics of the cars I've done. I hope you enjoy!!!

Here is a bad photo of the 1968 Camaro 396 4 speed that I gave to my son last summer. I bought this car in 1980 when I graduated from High School. I painted it about 10 years ago Twilight Royal Plum Pearl. He is 25 years old now so I hope he can handle it. He bought a interior kit for it and we installed a new dash, carpet, door panels, head liner...etc. He want to repaint it because he doesn't like the color, so when I'm finished with the 76 Camaro in my shop we will start on it. Rock on!!! Joedirt216

Very impressive Firebird. It looks like you've done a great job restoring it. I may have tried to fix the top once the kids funerals were paid for, lol!!!! Looking forward to more pics. Great job, Joe

The kids were 2 and 4 at the time. Now 25 and 23, And can you belive I actually gave my son my 68 camaro 396 4 speed last summer. he should have gotten a kick in the drawers:) I'll get more pics soon, Thanks again.
