On May 16, 2015, Chevy introduced the 6th Generation Camaro in Detroit for the 2016 model year. The launch, complete with previous generation Camaros on display, coincided with the Camaro’s 50th birthday in 2017.
I dedicate this American Torque Page to my brilliant and beautiful Niece and Goddaughter Jennifer. I am very proud of her Courage and Stamina. JJ, as we call her, has a 2024 Camaro Convertible purchased new which I am highlighting here with the 6th Gen Camaro. JJ gave me the inspiration to do the Camaro Generational Series from the 1st to the 6th.
Motor Trend named the 2016 Camaro its “Car of the Year”. Also in 2016 the Camaro was picked as the official pace car for the Indy 500 Race. Roger Penske led the 100th running of the Indianapolis 500 in a Summit White 2017 Chevy Camaro SS 50th Anniversary Edition coupé.
Using the GM Alpha platform shared with the Cadillac ATS, and manufactured at Lansing Grand River Assembly in Michigan, sales of the 6th Gen Camaro began in late 2015. The 6th Gen of the Camaro saw production return to the US as the 4th and 5th Gen models were assembled in Canada.
Like its predecessor, the 6th Gen Camaro is available in coupé and convertible. Compared to the previous generation, it is 2.3 inches shorter, 1.0 inch narrower and 1.1 inch shorter in height. With similar equipment and engine, it is also more than 200 lbs lighter.
Production of the 6th Gen Camaro ended on December 14, 2023. The Last Camaro built was a White 2024 Camaro ZL1 1LE Extreme Track Performance. It is believed that it's being held by Chevrolet in their Legacy Collection and was not sold to a private collector.
Good news is General Motors has approved the return of the Chevy Camaro pony car and the 7th Gen will return in 2027 as a 2028 model. It will be produced at GM's Lansing Grand River assembly plant in Michigan. I'm looking forward to seeing what the 7th Gen Camaro has in store for us.
This is my Tribute to the 6th Generation Camaro and JJ’s 2024 Camaro Convertible. Enjoy, Mario.

Well as they say "All Good Things Must Come To An End". And the 6th Generation Camaro, especially the 2024 Camaro is the Last of the Breed.
It has been my pleasure to present all the Camaro Generations from the 1st to the 6th on American Torque Pages. Hopefully there will be a new Chapter of the Camaro and a 7th Generation. And if so I will be there.
Thank you to my Niece Goddaughter Jennifer for your contribution and pictures of your fabulous 2024 Camaro Convertible. You have a Winner there JJ. And thank you Uncle Gary for locating the one car she dreamed of owning.
I hope you enjoy my Tribute to the 6th and Last Generation of the Iconic Camaro. Mario.
